Consumer Credit Counseling Service is a non-profit community service organization that works to help consumers in the state of Kansas. They offer a debt management program and bankruptcy counseling education in an effort to help area residents better understand how credit works and improve their credit situation.

One of the best things they have going for them is that they have an incredibly reasonable fee structure for their debt management program. There’s a setup fee of $10 per account, up to a maximum of $50, and a $3 per account monthly fee, up to a maximum of $20. This means you’ll never pay more than $50 in startup fees or more than $20 per month for help. That’s much lower than many of the other credit repair options we looked at.

They also gained points in our review because consumer credit counseling services will work to set up repayment plans that are within your budget. This lets customers have a better sense of their finances so they can get out of debt, while their creditors also get paid. This can be just what someone struggling with their bills needs to get back on track.

The last pro we’d like to note is that they also offer multiple types of bankruptcy counseling for consumers. They offer pre-filling consultations as well as pre-discharge education. This means consumers can determine if bankruptcy is best for them, and make sure their bankruptcy deal works in their favor.

They do have some issues however, the first being that they don’t seem to file disputes or verification requests on behalf of clients. This is a fairly common service for credit repair companies, and the fact that they’re missing it gives us a bit of a pause. However, they are a non-profit organization, and the low fees still make it worthwhile.

Consumer Credit Counseling Service is a good choice for Kansas residents who are having problems making a manageable budget and those who are considering bankruptcy.
