Overview
The Dispute Center is a dispute-focused credit repair company. They work to dispute items on their customer’s credit reports, in order to get them removed and increase the client’s credit score. They handle the entire process and make sure that the credit reports are accurately updated after the disputes have been settled.
Pros
The first positive aspect of the company we found was that they provide a dispute system to help consumers challenge negative items on their credit report. These negative items can undermine a consumer’s ability to get access to loans and credit products, while at the same time hurting their chances for a new job and other harms. Disputes force the credit reporting agency to prove that their information is accurate, and if that can’t be 100% proven, the item must be deleted.
They also have the additional benefit of they have many useful consumer education resources available. This is a big plus for us because our research indicates that companies who offer more consumer education are more likely to help their customers not only get rid of their current credit issues, but also avoid actions which can lead to credit issues in the future. This higher level of customer service and customer satisfaction earns the company some serious points.
Cons
The company isn’t perfect. The first issue we have is they lack any kind of information about their prices and fees. This creates a risk for more hidden fees than consumers are aware of, increasing the amount that credit repair services will eventually cost and making it harder to form and stick to a budget. The result is more hassle for consumers, so we dial them back a bit in our review because of it.
They also lost some points in our review because their website is in serious need of an update. Information is hard to find, the font is difficult to read, and the layout doesn’t make sense. While this doesn’t mean that their services are bad, our research found that companies with better websites frequently score better marks on consumer surveys and evaluations. Moreover, the quality of the website speaks strongly to the professionalism of the company it represents.
Verdict
The Dispute Center are an average credit repair company. They do a bit more with disputes than other firms do in that they stay on top of the credit firms, but that fixes a problem that only exists in limited cases. Most consumers are probably better off looking elsewhere for credit repair help.
